It's a cliché, but it's true, the news hits the station like a bomb.

Maybe it's their fault. Maybe they were too optimistic about Clinton's win. Maybe if voters had been more scared she might lose, they might have been pushed from their third party indifference, forced to realize that there was no lesser evil... there was just evil.

And tonight, evil's won.

As many times as it's backfired on her, Maggie's tried to be an idealist. Going to Africa had shattered her hopeful ideals, but seeing the campaign for Clinton and seeing the glass ceiling so close to shattered had allowed her to hope again. To hope that pure human decency would prevail. So when the numbers roll in, when states that should be blue turn to red...

Tonight, evil's won.

And though there's work to be done, the entire newsroom falls silent. Somber. It's like someone's died except people are rejoicing by the millions, chanting USA in a nation that, tonight, is anything but united.

Once she's made her calls and heard statement after statement of pure awe, Maggie has to get away. It'll be a brief respite but a respite nonetheless, her limbs feeling heavy as she drags her way up to the roof.

Though the city is loud as ever, all she can seem to focus on is the frightening rate of her own heartbeat.
